Can I travel with my pet ?
All pets are not allowed onboard all buses.
However, guide and service dogs are the exception as they are essential to their owners.
Can I travel with my bike ?
Yes, it is possible to do so!
1- Travelling within Canada:
You have to go to the parcel express counter with your bike already dismantled and boxed. You need to show up at least 90 minutes prior to your departure time. We are selling boxes and bags if you need it.
This counter is located at 550, East Ontario Street, between Berri and St-Hubert streets.
Depending on your final destination, there might be some additional charges.
If possible, your bike will be travelling on the same bus as you. In the event that this is impossible, your bike will be put on the next available departure. You will be able to pick it up as you get off the bus or at the parcel express counter at your destination bus terminal.
2- Travelling to the United States:
You have to go to the ticket counter with your bike already dismantled and boxed. You need to show up at least 2 hours prior to your departure. If you need it, we can sell you a bicycle box.
The ticket counter is located at 1717, Berri street, between Ontario and de Maisonneuve streets.
Depending on your final destination, there will be additional charges.
After this, you will need to carry your bike over the departure gate as it will travel on the same bus as you. You will be able to pick it up when you get off the bus upon the arrival at your final destination.
Do I need to reserve a seat ?
You cannot have a seat reservation. If a bus is full, the carrier will make every effort to provide another one. If not possible, you will have to wait for the next available departure time. That is why it is important to show up at least 45 to 60 minutes prior to your departure.
During Holiday periods (Christmas, New Year, Easter, etc), you should definitely consider showing up at least 90 minutes before your chosen departure time.
Please note that if you are a person with limited mobility, you will need to contact the carrier directly in order to make a bus reservation that can accommodate your needs and therefore obtain the necessary help to get in or out of the bus. You will have to make that reservation 48 to 72 hours before your departure date.
What are the available payment methods to buy tickets ?
At the ticket counter, we accept all the major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express), debit cards and cash.
With our self-serve kiosks, debit card are always accepted. Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards are only accepted between noon and 9h00PM.
On the website, the only cards accepted are Visa and MasterCard.
How many baggage can I bring along ?
You may bring one or two luggage without any charges, depending on the carrier you are using. No single piece of baggage can weight more than 23 kg (50 lb) and no more than 60 x 60 x 90 cm (24x24x36 in)in size. Also, you are allowed to have one (1) carry-on that has to easily fit in the overhead compartment on the bus.
You have more than the free allowance? In most cases, you will need to go at the ticket counter in order to pay for the additional luggage you carry. The cost and the number of extra luggage accepted will be determined by your final destination.
What can I do if I lost my ticket ?
If you lost it within our bus terminal, please go to the information kiosk and check if someone found it and brought it back. If so, you will be able to retrieve it by showing the confirmation number you receive by email AND a photo I.D. card.
In all other cases, unfortunately, you will have to buy another ticker. Be sure to always put your tickets in a secure place.
What if I do not or did not use my ticket ?
The majority of the regular fare tickets are valid for one year so you can you them later. The exception would be all the special fares (1, 3, 7 or 14 days advance purchase, excursion fare, etc). Those are non-refundable.
With the carrier Greyhound Canada, you will need to give the departure and return dates. If you change either one, you will need to have your tickets re-issued at the ticket counter (exchange fee and taxes applicable).
With the carriers Orléans Express and Autobus Maheux, there is no expiration date on tickets.
Refund
If you are not going or are not able to use your ticket (entirely or partially) AND you made your purchase at Gare d'Autocars de Montréal, you may be eligible for a refund for the part you did not use.
To get your refund, you will need to go at our ticket counter at 1717, Berri street in Montréal. You have to bring the unused ticket and the receipt. Without the ticket receipt, you will not be able to get a refund. Administrativ e charges will apply, depending on the issuing carrier.
NOTE : A special note is printed on the ticket if it is non-refundable OR if refundable only by mail (with some carriers) Be sure to look that up before showing to one of the terminal.
Can I buy a ticket for someone in another city ?
It is possible to do so. You just have to go to Gare d'Autocars de Montréal (1717, Berri street) to buy your ticket.
The sale will be confirmed by fax directly at the bus terminal where the person which you bought the ticket for is. That person will need to show an I.D. card in order to be able to retrieve this ticket. Additional charges will be applied for this service and they are not refundable.
Can I travel with a baby ?
Yes, you can but be aware that bus seats are not equipped to accommodate baby seats. The child will have to travel on you (no charge) or on a seat (minimal charge applicable). Please note that there are no diaper changing table onboard buses.
Can kids travel alone by bus ?
Your child can safely travel unaccompanied under certain conditions. The minimum and maximum age for child travelling alone differs from one carrier to the other.
To inquire, please go to our customer service counter in the terminal. You will be asked to fill a document called «Children travelling alone» which is available at the same counter. Please note that you will need to fill that form before you can buy the bus ticket.

Can a student from a foreign country get the student discount from canadian carriers ?
Absolutely. You only need to show to the driver, a valid full time student I.D. card and/or a proof of age.
Students travelling to the United States can get the student fare if they have an Advantage Student Card. Regular student proofs are not accepted for those destinations. For more information on this program, please go on the website www.studentadvantage.com
Please note that some carriers are giving the student fare to passengers 25 years of age and less with a valid full time student card.
What document do I need to travel outside Canada?
It is mandatory to have a valid passport. Passengers without one will be denied boarding the bus.
All passengers must go through US Customs and are responsible for the content of their luggage.
In the event that you are denied entrance to the United States, the bus driver will leave you at the border and the next bus returning to Canada will bring you back to your point of origin. Some charges are associated with this transfer. The amount will be assessed upon your arrival at the terminal.

Can I buy my ticket over the phone ?
Yes, you may.

Please take note that phone purchase is available only if you pay with Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit cards.
You will be able to get your tickets either at one of our self-serve kiosks or directly at the ticket counter. When your purchase is completed, the agent will give you the procedure.
